WE BELIEVE IN SHARING

MISSION STATEMENT

The Wabasha Area Food Share has a mission to provide nutritious food to our neighbors in need. Although the Food Share primarily provides food assistance for residents of the Wabasha/Kellogg area, all residents of Minnesota are welcome to visit. The Food Share may be used on a one-time basis, a monthly basis or as needed throughout the year. We believe in the importance of protecting privacy and dignity, and in serving with respect and integrity.

Our shelves are stocked with a wide variety of items such as non-perishable foods, frozen meats and vegetables, eggs, dairy products, bread, cooking ingredients, and personal care items. Limited seasonal garden produce is available. Coupons for purchases at the Wabasha Farmers Market are distributed at each visit from May to October.

A team of trained volunteers is responsible for the routine operations and a board of directors, comprised of community and church representatives, provides leadership and oversight.

FUNDING SOURCES

The pantry is supported by individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations in the form of cash donations, food, and/or volunteering.

OUR IMPACT

In 2020, the Wabasha Area Food Share provided food to over 1,500 people in the community, an average of 66 households per month. During the year, almost 50,000 pounds/vouchers were distributed.

OUR HISTORY

The Wabasha Area Food Share is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1985 by area churches to respond to residents experiencing financial hardships.

TESTIMONIALS

I really want to say thank you for everything. Having just moved here last week and not having much money to spare after moving expenses on my tight fixed income, the generosity shown by your organization really means a lot and makes the next 2 weeks much easier. So again, thank you very much, thank to your volunteers and supporters.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.   I have been blessed through you and the food share.

Thank you for helping me find the help I needed!  I spoke with Public Health and I qualify for assistance to get my plumbing fixed thru their program. I’m so grateful for you and that I asked you!  Many others I spoke with didn’t have the idea of Tammy and it was exactly the help I qualify for and need!!  I also left a message for Workforce Development and appreciate that suggestion as well. THANK YOU!
